Quality Technician - Medical Guidewire Inspection

At KMM Group, we manufacture precision components used in demanding medical device and advanced technology applications. We're looking for a detail-oriented Quality Technician to inspect precision medical guidewires and corewires and help ensure every product meets our quality requirements.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a sharp eye, patience, and exceptional attention to detail. Previous quality or manufacturing experience is preferred, but we're willing to train the right person.

🔧What You'll Do

You'll perform detailed visual and dimensional inspections of precision guidewires and corewires while documenting results and supporting the flow of quality product through manufacturing.

• Visually inspect medical guidewires and corewires for critical characteristics

• Perform roll, length, and PTFE coating/damage inspections

• Perform tensile testing as required

• Complete dimensional inspections using precision measurement tools

• Perform First Article Inspections (FAI) as required

• Identify defects and nonconforming product

• Document inspection results using Good Documentation Practices (GDP)

• Wash and package inspected wires

• Follow inspection procedures, work instructions, and quality requirements

• Work closely with Wire Grinding operators, supervisors, and Quality team members

• Accurately identify visual defects and product variations

• Consistently complete inspections to established quality standards

• Maintain accurate and complete quality documentation

• Protect delicate guidewires during inspection and handling

• Support efficient movement of product through Quality Control

• Become proficient in guidewire visual and dimensional inspection

What We're Looking For

• High school diploma or GED

• Exceptional attention to detail and strong visual acuity

• Ability to perform detailed, repetitive inspection work accurately

• Ability to handle small and delicate precision components

• Ability to follow detailed inspection procedures and work instructions

• Basic computer and documentation skills

• Dependability and a strong commitment to product quality

• Willingness to learn precision inspection and measurement techniques

Preferred Experience

Previous experience with any of the following is a plus, but not required:

• Quality inspection or Quality Control

• Medical device manufacturing

• Precision manufacturing

• Visual inspection

• Guidewire or wire manufacturing

• Precision assembly

• Micrometers, calipers, or precision measurement tools

• Basic GD&T

• First Article Inspection (FAI)

• Good Documentation Practices (GDP)

• Tensile testing

• Regulated manufacturing environments

Experience in medical devices, electronics, precision assembly, laboratory work, aerospace, wire manufacturing, optical inspection, or other highly detailed hands-on work may transfer well to this position.

Physical Requirements

To perform the essential functions of this position successfully, an individual must be able to:

• Sit at a Quality Control workstation for extended periods

• Maintain the visual focus necessary to inspect small, detailed components

• Frequently use hands and fingers to handle small, delicate guidewires and inspection equipment

• Perform repetitive inspection activities while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail

• Use precision measuring and testing equipment as required

• Read and complete inspection documentation and electronic records

• Safely work in a precision manufacturing environment
