Quality Engineer – CMM Programmer & Metrology Problem Solver – Precision With Purpose

We are seeking a highly skilled Quality Engineer with advanced CMM programming expertise (preferably Zeiss Calypso) to elevate our inspection capabilities, drive process reliability, and support the next level of quality excellence.

🔧 What You’ll Do

Collaboration & Continuous Improvement

  • Collaborate with Engineering, Quality, and Production to resolve inspection challenges and improve process capability

  • Coach and mentor junior quality techs and operators on inspection methods, measurement principles, and quality standards

  • Contribute to ongoing SOP development, internal audits, and QMS improvement initiatives

  • Help drive inspection throughput and reduce bottlenecks by prioritizing tasks in alignment with production schedules

  • Drive AI into inspection and create efficiencies thru creating and implementing automated data collection systems and reporting.

Metrology & CMM Excellence

  • Apply advanced GD&T interpretation and metrology techniques to validate complex geometries with exceptional accuracy

  • Program and Set up Zeiss CMMs using Calypso software to perform First Article, in-process, and final inspections on high-precision components

  • Confirm inspection results using both CNC inspection equipment and manual/hard gaging alternatives to ensure process alignment

Quality Systems & Documentation

  • Engineer Quality into our processes by developing Process Control Plans, Inspection Plans and drive risk-based inspection methodologies.

  • Contribute to PPAP’s and support Process Capability studies.

  • Document all inspection results using Good Documentation Practices (GDP) and in full compliance with our QMS (ISO 13485, AS9100, 21 CFR Part 820)

  • Ensure traceability and proper handling of inspected parts and records

  • Assist with non-conformance escalations, investigations, and CAPA activities to drive resolution and prevent recurrence

  • Support calibration tracking and maintenance of metrology systems and gages

What You Bring:

  • Minimum 7 years of experience in quality engineering, inspection and metrology within regulated industries (medical device or aerospace preferred)

  • Proficiency in Zeiss Calypso programming and operating CMMs

  • Deep understanding of GD&T per ASME Y14.5

  • Experience with optical and vision-based systems (Keyence, OGP) and hard gauging methods

  • Strong problem-solving skills with a commitment to data integrity and compliance

  • Solid working knowledge of statistical methods like SPC, Cpk, and risk-based inspection techniques

  • Ability to collaborate cross-functionally and communicate inspection results with clarity and confidence

🧠 Bonus Points For:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Engineering Technology, or related field

  • Passion for metrology innovation and continuous improvement

  • FMEA and PPAP Experience

  • Previous involvement in QMS audits or SOP development

  • Familiarity with inspection automation trends and digital documentation tools
