Quality Control Inspector - 2nd Shift

Precision Inspection for Complex Mission-Critical Parts

15% Shift Differential Pay!

We manufacture precision components used in medical device, aerospace, defense, space exploration, and advanced technology applications. Our work supports products where accuracy, traceability, and quality are the difference between a part that simply passes inspection and a part that performs when it matters.

We are looking for a Senior Quality Inspector / Quality Control Technician Level 3 who can bring deep inspection experience, strong metrology skills, and sound judgment to a high-precision manufacturing environment.

This role is ideal for someone who has inspected CNC machined, ground, EDM, Swiss machined, or tight-tolerance components and wants to be trusted as a technical resource on the floor.

🔧What You’ll Do

As a Quality Tech Level 3, you will help protect the customer, support production, and strengthen quality as a competitive advantage.

You will:

• Perform first article, first piece, in-process, receiving, and final inspections on precision machined and ground components.

• Use advanced metrology tools including CMMs, vision systems, optical inspection equipment, profilometers, roundness testers, micrometers, calipers, height gages, bore gages, pin gages, thread gages, gage blocks, and surface plates.

• Interpret complex blueprints, customer drawings, specifications, and GD&T per ASME Y14.5.

• Inspect tight-tolerance parts produced through CNC machining, Swiss machining, milling, turning, centerless grinding, OD/ID grinding, EDM, and production machining.

• Document inspection results clearly and accurately according to Good Documentation Practices, ISO 13485, AS9100, FDA, and internal quality system requirements.

• Demonstrate a proficiency with advanced metrology equipment, including but not limited to: CNC Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM), preferably Zeiss w/ Calypso.

• Support nonconformance reporting, MRB activity, root cause analysis, CAPA, corrective action, preventive action, and continuous improvement.

• Use inspection data to support process capability, CpK, PPK, trend analysis, and statistical decision-making.

• Partner with machinists, grinders, EDM operators, engineers, and production leaders to solve quality issues at the source.

• Mentor or coach junior quality technicians when needed.

• Support audit readiness, SOP improvements, inspection planning, and quality system initiatives.

✅What We’re Looking For

This role is a strong fit for someone who is dependable, curious, and hands-on.

Preferred Requirements:

• 5+ years of quality inspection, QC technician, CMM inspection, or metrology experience in a precision manufacturing environment.

• Experience inspecting tight-tolerance parts in CNC machining, grinding, EDM, Swiss machining, aerospace, defense, medical device, or contract manufacturing.

• Strong blueprint reading and GD&T skills.

• Experience with regulated quality systems such as ISO 13485:2016, AS9100, FDA 21 CFR Part 820, or ITAR-related manufacturing environments.

• Strong documentation discipline and attention to traceability.

• Ability to communicate inspection findings clearly to operators, engineers, and quality leadership.

• A problem-solving mindset, not just a pass/fail inspection mindset.

• Ability to learn new equipment, inspection methods, customer requirements, and manufacturing processes.

Bonus Points For:

• CMM programming experience.

• Zeiss Calypso experience.

• Keyence IM Series or OGP video inspection experience.

• Machining, grinding, EDM, or toolmaking background.

• Frequently use hands and fingers to operate machinery, tools, controls, gauges, and measuring instruments.

• Frequently reach, grasp, handle, and manipulate small parts and tooling components.

• Visually inspect parts, tooling, machine displays, blueprints, and measurement devices, including the ability to distinguish fine details and small dimensional variations.

• Read and interpret written instructions, blueprints, setup sheets, inspection reports, and digital production information.

• Frequently bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, and reach while loading material, changing tools, cleaning machines, and performing routine maintenance.

• Lift, carry, push, or pull materials, tooling, and equipment weighing up to 25 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds occasionally, with or without assistance.

• Safely operate material handling equipment and lifting devices when required.

• Work around moving mechanical equipment, cutting tools, metal chips, coolants, lubricants, and other manufacturing-related materials.

Why KMM

KMM is not a place where quality sits at the end of the line with a red pen.

Here, quality is built into the process. It shows up in how drawings are reviewed, how parts are made, how measurements are interpreted, and how teams respond when something starts to drift. Our best quality professionals are trusted partners to production.

You’ll work in a clean, organized, technology-focused manufacturing environment with people who care about precision, take pride in the work, and understand that the parts we make have real-world impact.

At KMM, we believe in being Paid to Think. That means your judgment matters. Your experience matters. Your ability to notice a pattern, ask the right question, and speak up early can prevent a small issue from becoming a customer problem.

For an experienced Quality Inspector, CMM Inspector, or Metrology Technician who wants more ownership, stronger technical challenges, and a team that values quality as a craft, this is a place to do meaningful work.
